Not much sun ‘til Friday: Week starts with damp commute

Last week’s weather was dominated by brutal cold. So your reward for that to begin the work week is some rain.

And more rain.

WSB meteorologist Kirk Mellish isn’t forecasting a sunny day until Friday this week, with at lease some chance of a bit of rain every day until then.

Today will bring the best chance of showers, especially in the morning.

Mellish says showers are likely today light and on and off – including during the morning commute – with a high of 49. Lows will stay around 40. So at least the temperature is almost average.

The rain chance does drop down to 50 percent for Tuesday. The high will stay around 50, and lows fall a couple of degrees into the mid-to-upper 30s.

There is a chance to the sun could break through the clouds on Wednesday. Mellish is calling for a mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of morning sprinkles.  It’s still going to be on the cool side, with highs in the mid to upper-40s. Lows in the mid to upper-30s.

Mellish is looking at a 30 percent chance of drizzle Thursday morning. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 40s. And then that’s it. The sun comes out on Friday and warms things up to 54. It will be colder both nights though, with lows 29 to freezing. "We start a January Thaw this weekend and early next week, before cold weather returns late this month and next month" said Mellish.
