A dozen E. coli cases in the Midwest are traced back to contaminated sprouts sold at Jimmy John's sandwich shops. The CDC has been notified.
There have been illnesses reported in Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. This is the fourth case of food-borne illness at Jimmy John's since 2008. After a salmonella outbreak last year, the sandwich chain switched from alfalfa to raw clover sprouts. Jimmy Johns has no comment on this latest outbreak.
