Michael Jordan was not in court.  The Atlanta woman accusing him was.

"My son wants to know.  My son wants to know," says Pamela Smith, who claims the NBA Hall of Famer is the father of her teenage son.

Smith has filed a paternity suit against Jordan, asking that he be forced to take a DNA test that Smith believes will show that the 16 year old is Jordan's son.

"My son has the right to know who his father is," Smith told reporters outside of the Fulton County Courthouse.  "That is a major issue."

Smith claims she has known Jordan for years and that they began a relationship in the late 1980's. 

Smith is divorced and had claimed in court papers that her ex-husband is the boy's biological father.

But now, she says, the truth is that her son's father is, in reality, the 6 time NBA champion.

The two sides met in a private conference with Fulton County Superior Court Judge, Wendy Shoob, to discuss the status of the case.

Smith wants Jordan to take a paternity test.  Jordan wants Smith sanctioned for making false claims.

Smith's attorney plans on filing a response to Jordan's motion.  When and even if this case will go to trial has not yet been decided.
