Metro Atlanta’s jobless numbers saw another slight drop in October.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the preliminary unemployment rate in metro Atlanta fell to 8.2 percent. That is a drop of one-tenth of a percentage point from September. The jobless rate last October was 9.4 percent.

The Department of Labor says 19,500 new jobs were added in metro Atlanta in the last month. The most came in retail trade. Jobs have increased 1.5 percent from last year.

Metro Athens still has the lowest jobless rate in the state at 6.2 percent, while metro Dalton has the highest at 11.3 percent.

Last week, the state announced Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 8.7 percent in October.
