The Henry County man charged with shooting his elderly father outside the family business last week told 911 dispatchers he did so in self-defense.
WSB's Sandra Parrish obtained the audio from last week's call of John Wesley Morgan Jr. who was clearly upset at the time.
"I shot my dad... it was in self-defense, he come here wanting to fight," he said.
Morgan claims he had been arguing with his father, 79-year-old John Wesley Morgan Sr., at Morgan Auto Shop on Ga. 138 in Stockbridge.
"He got out, stuck his hand in his pocket and said he wasn't putting up with all this sh*t, so I had to shoot him," the younger Morgan told the dispatcher.
He says he then shot his father with an AK-47. No word if any weapon was found on the elder man's body.
Morgan surrendered when police arrived. He's currently jailed without bond and faces another court hearing June 20.
