A man is facing several charges after running over three children in the parking lot of a car wash in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police say Jose Mena, 34, was not paying attention when he pulled into the parking lot of the car wash at 1932 Metropolitan Parkway. The three kids, ages 3, 9, and 13, were waiting on their father to wash their car when Mena arrived.

“He’s got the kids pinned to the wall with the car,” witness Curtis Smith told Channel  2 Action News. “People started pounding on the window.”

Smith thinks Mena either fell asleep or looked down.

The three children were taken to Egleston Hospital with minor injuries.

Mena’s 1995 green Ford Taurus had a cracked windshield after the crash. Police officers towed the car away.

Mena is charged with reckless driving and driving while unlicensed. He was transported to City Of Atlanta Jail.
