One of Atlanta's best known companies had a short operating day Monday.
Police were called to the Cox Communications building, on Lake Hearn Drive, after workers discovered a suspicious package.
"Building services located it around the loading dock," says Elizabeth Olmstead, Public Relations Manager for Cox Communications. "They then made the decision to evacuate the building."
Once police arrived and examined the package the company decided to send the 800 building employees home for the day.
The incident began with the discovery at about 9 o'clock.
"We thought it was a drill," says Mallard Holliday, who was on the phone in his office when the alert was sounded. "But this one had a sense of urgency so we could tell it wasn't a drill."
Police sounded the all clear about two and a half hours after the package was discovered.
The nature of the package has not been announced.
Cox Enterprises is the parent company of WSB Radio.
