Police say it’s hard to miss the signs on Ga. 400 in Buckhead that say “Wrong Way.”

Despite the warnings, a Marietta woman still ended up on the wrong side of the freeway. That mistake led to a crash that killed her, another man and has left third person in critical condition.

Investigators still aren’t sure how 24-year-old Frampere Ingle was driving south in the northbound lanes of GA-400. But they think alcohol may have had something to do with it.

“There are clearly signs posted saying ‘Do Not Enter’ or ‘Wrong Way,’ Atlanta police spokesman Kim Jones told Channel 2 Action News.

Ingle’s vehicle slammed into another just south of Lenox Rd. around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Eric Hanks, 44, died at the scene. Ingle died later at Grady Memorial Hospital. Another person in Ingle's car was hospitalized in critical condition. The passenger’s name has not been released.

Police are talking to witness and trying to find anyone who saw Ingle get on the freeway. Authorities are also trying to find out where she was coming from.

“We can put up all the signs in the world up,” said DOT spokesman Mark McKinnon, “but if they are not obeyed it really does no good.”

All northbound lanes of Ga. 400 were shut down for more than three hours for authorities to investigate and clear the wreckage.
