Two accused of stealing from a charity

By Chris Chandler

Acworth, GA —

"It is better to give than receive?"  Police say these two Acworth women didn't think so.

They're accused of stealing items from a charity donation box!

Somebody spied the women and called police.

Police Captain Mark Cheatham tells Channel 2 Action News, "The 911 caller stated to dispatch she saw the two females inside the bin and saw their feet dangling outside and that's what raised suspicion."

Tabrow County police say they found Tina Morales and Velvie Bagley with 13 bags--a car full--of clothes, shoes, and children's toys they had pulled from the bin.  They told police they wanted to sell the items at a yard sale, then asked "It that okay?"

The allegedly stolen items were put back in the bin.

The two women were charged with misdemeanor theft.
