ATLANTA —

TSA agents say within two hours they discovered three people trying to take guns through the security checkpoint at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

Officers arrested three people, including an executive administrator with Atlanta-based Chick-Fil-A. It's why the agency is once again urging passengers to check their bags before coming to the airport.

It began Monday when agents said around 10:45 a.m. they discovered a .380 handgun in Sheryl Rexrode's carry-on as she went through security. The Chick-Fil-A executive was arrested.

Then at noon, police arrested Derek Morgan after they said he tried to take a loaded .32 caliber handgun through a checkpoint. Morgan's father said he forgot the gun was in his bag.

Less than an hour later, officers said Wendy Parker tried to take a .380 handgun through a checkpoint in her bag.

Parker's attorney said she didn't know it was in there.

"It was absolutely a mistake. She's a sales rep. She brings the gun with her in her bag when she's in her territory. She's a woman just trying to make sure she's safe," Jay Jackson told Channel 2s Tom Jones. "She was going on a business trip and accidentally left it in there."

At least two of the guns found Monday were loaded.

The TSA said it discovered 69 guns at Hartsfield-Jackson checkpoints last year. The year isn't over, and they've found 87.

Some travelers don't believe people forget their guns in their bags.

"No. I don't buy that you would forget it. That's a pretty important thing to remember," Robin Barfield said.

But other travelers said Georgia's gun carry laws make it easy to forget you have a weapon on you.

"I can see people being absent-minded because it's just a part of their routine. They probably have their gun in their car," Jeff Coaxum said.

Rexrode, Parker and Morgan face charges of carrying a weapon in unauthorized locations. Rexrode got out of jail on a $10,000 bond. Parker and Norman received $5,000 bonds.

The TSA once again is urging passengers to look through their bags before they come to the airport. In addition to going to jail and missing your flight, the TSA says you may also face civil penalties.
