DeKalb Police: 2 Kids, Mom Killed by Family Member

By Amanda Moyer and Tony Schiavone

Atlanta, GA —

DeKalb County police have charged a 21-year-old man with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault in a stabbing that killed three people and injured another.

Arrest records identify him as Eugene Quatron McCoy and he is believed to be the female victim's son.

It happened at a home on Rockland Road near Lithonia around 9 p.m. Sunday. The victims are a woman in her 40s and two children.  The woman is apparently the kids' mother.  Authorities say a fourth person is hospitalized

"At this point, detectives don't have any conclusive reasons for what actually prompted this dispute,"  said DeKalb County Police Spokeswoman Mekka Parrish.

The surviving victim is a teenage girl, believed to be another sibling.  Parish says the only survivor of the attack, a woman, ran through the woods to a house in a nearby subdivision to call police.

According to the AJC, one of its reporters found a bloody knife on the front porch of the house.  Police are investigating why detectives failed to see it when they were called to the scene.
