Trial for accused killer begins Wednesday

By Marcy Williams

Atlanta —

Fulton County prosecutors seek the death penalty against accused murderer Jeremy Moody.  Opening statements get underway Wednesday.

Moody and indicted co-defendant William Felts allegedly stabbed 15-year-old Del Mattox and 13-year-old Chrisondra Sierra Kimble with a screwdriver after encountering the teens near a neighborhood convenience store in south Fulton County in April, 2007.

The teens' nude bodies were discovered the next day in the woods behind Bethune Elementary School in College Park.  According to the Fulton County medical examiner, both Mattox and Kimble had been stabbed repeatedly and Kimble had been raped.

Moody was picked up at the Greyhound bus station the following day.  Prosecutors allege the defendants were crack-heads who robbed the victims of less than $20 cash.  Felts awaits trial separately.
