Gwinnett County, GA —

Gwinnett County Police are hoping someone will recognize store surveillance video and help catch a thief who has broken into more than 20 cars since October.

"We've had a series of these break-ins that they have eventually been able to attribute all to the same suspect through various means," said Corporal Jake Smith.

Smith says the suspect likes to target mostly unlocked cars in parks and churches.

"This suspect is taking several things; but he's using the victim's credit and debit cards at retail locations to make purchases.  These have been in various locations:  everything from groceries to clothing," said Smith.

Smith says the man now has been seen in both an older model pickup and a four-door passenger car, and has managed to slip through their fingers because he moves quickly and has only recently been caught on surveillance video from a Target in Roswell.

"Frequently, he's using these cards before the victim is even aware that the break-in has taken place.  Usually the victims in these cases call their credit card companies right away and get these things canceled.  But in these cases, he's going to nearby shopping centers to use these things before they're even aware," said Smith.

Anyone who has any information is asked to call either Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
