Gwinnett County —
Jurors could hear gruesome crime scene details as testimony resumes this morning in the death penalty trial of quadruple murder suspect Richard Ringold in Gwinnett Superior Court.
He’s accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend Atania Butler, her 11-year-old daughter, and two others at Butler’s Lawrenceville home in 2009.
The medical examiner and DNA experts are expected to be the next witnesses to take the stand.
During opening arguments Friday, District Attorney Danny Porter painted a vivid picture for jurors of the murder scene.
“Police arrived at 751 Clairidge Lane and discovered a bloodbath,” he says.
But Ringold's defense attorney Gladys Pollard reminded jurors to keep an open mind.
“If it was all that the D.A. said, then, we’d be done. There’s always two sides to every story,” she says.
The then 4-year-old daughter of Butler, who survived being shot two to three times, is expected to testify on Tuesday.
