By Andrew Spencer

The teenager charged with murdering his 8-year-old cousin has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Charlie Oliver was 16 when he said he was playing with a 9mm handgun in the room he shared with his cousin, Solomon Zellner. His finger caught the trigger, he says, and Zellner was shot and killed.

Prosecutors called it a senseless and reckless act.

Oliver was originally charged with murder. Now 17, he has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Cynthia Becker sentenced Oliver to 10 years in prison.
