Snow blankets north Georgia

It's not right to have to clean up from a tornado in snow and ice.

But that's what they had to deal with in Adairsville after another round of winter weather moved through north Georgia Saturday.

The wintry mix stayed away from metro Atlanta, temperatures stayed warm enough to bring only rain. But heavy snow showers moved through the higher elevations in the north Georgia mountains. Some in Fannin, Gilmer and Murray counties reported three to five inches of snow.

The slick roads made for treacherous driving conditions  and turned the winter wonderland into a headache for those that took their chances.

"I decided to go skiing and took the truck with me. Or it took me with it," said Carol Weaver, who wrecked in the snow in Gilmer County.

Emergency responders in Gilmer and Fannin counties said they've responded to too many accidents to count.

The snow threat will clear in north Georgia later today, while metro Atlanta will see a typical winter day.

WSB meteorologist Kirk Mellish is calling for plenty of sun with highs around  mid 50s Sunday and Monday. Lows will stay around freezing.

The next chance of rain looks like Tuesday.
