A $2,000 reward is being offered for the arrest of a sexual assault suspect who took advantage of a trusting young city visitor.
On April 29, a woman was clubbing at Opera Nightclub on Crescent Avenue. A man, whom she describes as of Russian or Middle Eastern descent, offered to give her a ride back to her hotel. She agreed, but says instead of taking her directly there he drove her around for a while before pulling into a warehouse district onto Trabert Avenue NW. There, she says, he climbed into the passenger seat with her and sexually assaulted her.
"We don't believe that this is some kind of trend," says Atlanta Police Sgt. Curtis Davenport. "We do believe this is an isolated incident that happened on this particular night."
She described the man in enough detail for sketch artists to produce a clear drawing. Tipsters who recognize him may qualify for a $2,000 reward by calling Crimestoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-TIPS (8477).
