Chattooga County, GA —

Thick black smoke billows from the Berryton Recycling complex in Chattooga County and the concern from both neighbors of the plant and county officials is the air quality. The U.S Environmental Protection Agency is monitoring air quality in five different locations around the plant, according to Chattooga Co. Sheriff John Everett. The Sheriff says, "so far, everything has been reported normal.”

Everett admits they don’t know what started the fire Friday afternoon, they've looked at arson, lightening strikes, even employees off loading materials. He says they've contacted the state Fire Marshall's office in Atlanta and they should begin an investigation once the fire's out.

But Everett admits it could be awhile before the fire's completely out.

At the height of the blaze nearly 400 firefighters battled the blaze.
