Atlanta, GA —

Driving through Atlanta will be tough at times this weekend. Potential storms aren't the only concern.

Police expect as many as 250,000 people to crowd downtown Atlanta on Saturday.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus will be at Philips Arena. The Georgia World Congress Center will host two events: a hair stylist convention and a cheerleading competition. A professional bullriders event will also be held at the Georgia Dome this weekend.

The Georgia Department of Transportation also planned construction on the Downtown Connector, I-75/85, in both directions near Cleveland Avenue. Roadwork was also planned for the Perimeter, I-285, in both directions between Roswell Road and GA-400. Those and various other construction projects could be postponed or cancelled by storms this weekend.

To save you the aggravation, police suggest people take MARTA or consider carpooling. If you're heading south on I-75 toward downtown Atlanta, you may want to exit at Northside Drive.

The occassional motorcade isn't out of the question. Two Republican presidential candidates plan to make appearances in Georgia this weekend.
