Gwinnett County —

Gwinnett County Police investigators say a botched getaway led to the arrest of one of three recent bank robbery suspects.

Jamar Terrell is in custody after police say his car was abandoned following a police chase after the robbery of the Wells Fargo on Highway 29 and Bethesda Church Road last Friday.

"The car that was ultimately abandoned was actually registered to the suspect who was ultimately arrested," Det. Deon Washington tells WSB's Sandra Parrish.

He says it was one of two getaway cars used. The other, a 1992 silver Honda Accord, has not been recovered.

Washington says all three suspects were supposed to drive away in the Accord and retrieve Terrell's Pontiac at a later time.

"We believe the driver of the Honda wasn't parked where he was supposed to be parked, so when they came out of the bank, they ended up getting in the silver Pontiac and that's when they left the scene," he says.

Officers chased the Pontiac until the two suspects inside abandoned the car and fled on foot. Police recovered the $11,000 in stolen money inside as well as the two guns used in the robbery.

Investigators are still looking for 24-year-old Marcus Rutledge, a.k.a "Bankhead", and 41-year-old Thomas Birdsong, a.k.a "T-Bird". Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for their arrest and conviction.
