Phony lawyer on the loose

By Chris Chandler

Atlanta —

Police are hunting a fake lawyer.

Authorities and bilked clients say Keith Nelson had an office and everything.  He claimed to be an attorney specializing in child support matters.

The Bar Association never heard of him.

At least two would-be clients tell Channel 2 Action News he offered to represent them--in one case to the tune of $5500.  Then he didn't do any work.

"Mr. Nelson lied the entire time," says alleged victim Kerwin Davis, "and said he was a Christian man.  We believed in him."

Davis says a judge put out a warrant for his arrest, even suspended his driver's license--all because their supposed lawyer didn't tell them to show up for court!

Now police say they think there may be more metro victims.  And Nelson may have active warrants for doing the same thing in three other states.
