Gwinnett County —

The only surviving victim of a mass shooting in Lawrenceville three years ago is expected to face her family's alleged killer today.

Nhaje Alexander was four-years-old when she witnessed the fatal shooting of her mother, sister, and two others.  She, herself, suffered two gunshot wounds.

Her mother's boyfriend, Richard Ringold, now faces death if convicted of the crime.

First responders testified Monday that as they arrived at the house on Clairidge Lane the little girl came down the stairs and described to them what happened.

"First she said that 'Rich killed my whole family, he shot everybody'," testified Gwinnett Police Sgt. Kevin Isenhour, the supervising officer on the scene. "I said, 'Are you OK?' and she said 'No, he shot me too'."

Paramedics discovered Alexander had actually dressed her wounds herself and changed shirts before police arrived.

"She said that she had gone upstairs, taken the old shirt off that was covered in blood, and she put bandaids on the wounds, and then put what she described as her favorite shirt on," testified EMT Adam Hawkins.

He said the little girl asked him not to cut her shirt off because her mommy had given it to her.

She also told Hawkins Ringold was the shooter.

"She stated that she was inside playing the Wii game and Rich came inside and shot Mama in the face," testified Hawkins.

Gifty Kargbo, who escaped the house before being shot, testified last week that Ringold had had an argument with his girlfriend and mother of Alexander, Atania Butler, before fatally shooting her and the others.
