Midtown noise ordinance will have to wait

By Andrew Spencer

Atlanta —

Midtown residents calling for a tougher noise ordinance will have to wait until next year to see any action.

"We just want to be able to get a good night's sleep," says Midtown condo resident Rayandra Slonina.

Residents added their input during an Atlanta City Council meeting, Tuesday afternoon. They complain today's frequent mix of residential and commercial developments has made the decade's old noise ordinance completely outdated.

"An upgrade is necessary," resident Nick Nicholson tells Channel 2 Action News.

A substitute ordinance proposes a number of changes, including limits on the levels and duration of noise during certain times of the day.

Council members have been considering these changes since June. At Tuesday's meeting, they decided to postpone a vote on the issue. The council's next full meeting isn't until January.
