Police blame bath salts for a Gwinnett County man's disturbing diet.
Police smelled a "strong odor of excrement" on Matthew Hammond's breath. Police say the 21-year-old appeared to have been eating his own feces.
The police report describes Hammond's mother calling police to complain that her son was "walking around out of his mind, armed with a knife."
There was no knife when police arrived, but Hammond allegedly charged the patrol car, banging on the windows and pulling aggressively on the locked doors.
Hammond had to be restrained during the ride to Gwinnett Medical Center. Police say he later admitted to having smoked marijuana, drank alcohol, and snorted "a lot" of bath salts.
