Atlanta, GA —
Police are still searching for the person who killed a recent Georgia State University graduate.
Ayokunle Lumpkin, 23, played soccer at Georgia State and Sprayberry High School. Police say he was shot while chasing down a driver who hit a friend's car in southeast Atlanta.
Lumpkin's uncle Tunde Onadipe tells Channel 2 Action News it's a total loss.
"His name means joy and the joy of the family has been taken away," said Onadipe.
The family has now turned to prayer.
"Believing that he knows the reason why he has to go, we don't know the reason, we can't comprehend it. God is an awesome god and that's who we turn to," said Onadipe.
Lumpkin's family says they will plan a funeral after the man's father returns from Nigeria. Police say they have found the green car that hit Lumpkin's friends vehicle.
