Gwinnett County Police make one arrest and are looking for two other suspects in a counterfeit DVD and CD operation.

Cpl. Jake Smith says 35-year-old Darren Smith of Lawrenceville was arrested following a traffic stop for operating an unsafe vehicle.

While searching his car, officers discovered more than 300 bogus DVDs and CDs.

Smith says several days later, police obtained a search warrant for Smith’s Valley Club Drive residence where they found thousands more.

“They found numerous spools of DVDs, some had already been recorded with movies (and) some were blank, they found a small amount of marijuana, and about $21,000 in cash,” he tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

Smith says numerous high end items such as clothing, eye glasses, and purses were also found in the home as well as catalogues and distribution lists.

Smith faces charges including unlawful distribution of recorded material and drug possession.

Police also have warrants for Smith’s sister Pamela Smith and her finance Troy Thomas.
