GA Red Cross Disaster teams head north

By Richard Sangster

Atlanta —

Two Red Cross disaster teams left the state today, bringing the total number of Red Cross volunteers from Georgia in the Northeast to 26. Saul Maisonet is retired military and a 10 year Red Cross volunteer. Michael Neal is a former Atlanta firefighter and has been with the Red Cross a month.

Both got the call, Monday. Maisonet and Neal know they'll be feeding people, but don't know where they're going until they get their marching orders. "It could be anywhere, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Boston," says Maisonet.

Before leaving Red Cross headquarters in NE Atlanta the two men made sure their "emergency relief vehicle" was stocked with the supplies they'll need for a two week mission. The deployment could last longer.
