FBI: Suspect in movie theater bomb threats identified

By Jon Lewis

Atlanta, Ga. —

The FBI says it now knows who is responsible for a bomb threat called in against a Georgia-based theater chain.

The threat was aimed at Carmike Cinemas, of Columbus, and targeted the chain's theaters across the country that are showing the movie "The Expendibles 2."

While the FBI will not identify the suspect, they do say he is no longer a threat.

Carmike operates 236 theaters in 35 states.

The threat was received last Friday morning, before opening.  That allowed time for security precautions to be taken.

A spokesman for Carmike would not comment on the investigation.  An FBI agent says it is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released.
