Erickson: Akin to drop out after "legitimate rape" comment

WSB talk show host and RedState.com blogger Erick Erickson expects Senate candidate Todd Akin to drop out of the race.

On Monday, Missouri Congressman Akin apologized for televised comments he made the day before, saying the female body has ways of trying to prevent a pregnacy for the victim of "a legitimate rape."

Speaking to former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee on his radio show, Rep. Akin said he misspoke, stressing that rape is "never legitimate."

Akin previously said he would continue to seek a Senate seat. Consultants tell Erickson otherwise, saying without the general support of the Republican party and of fundraisers, Akin will formally drop out of the race on Tuesday.
