Lawerenceville,, GA —

Gwinnett County Sheriff Butch Conway warns that offer of easy money from a stay-at-home mom in Lawrenceville is too good to be true.

The sheriff's received complaints from residents who have received an e-mail blast purporting to be from Amy Livingston of Lawrenceville.  She describes how she's making thousands of dollars every month in an at-home business opportunity.  The trouble, according to the sheriff, is this Amy Livingston does not exist.  It's a scam operating out of the Ukraine.

"What we can tell you is that Amy Livingston, at least the Amy Livingston that is portrayed in these pop-ups and advertisements is not any Amy Livingston in Lawrenceville, Georgia," Sheriff's Lieutenant Sean Smith tells WSB.

Further investigation by WSB reveals Amy gets around.  Similar e-mail blasts are reported around the country.  In each one, Amy hails from a different hometown.

Sheriff Conway urges residents to be wary of Internet money-making opportunities and to check out these offers with care before buying in.

"We tell residents to do their own due diligence to see if it's legitimate or not," Lt. Smith tells WSB.  "Like your grandma always says, if it sounds too good to be true, then sometimes it really is."
