Dekalb County, GA —
Fire officials say a Molotov cocktail may have started a huge apartment fire in Decatur. So far no one has been arrested, but authorities say they are working strong leads in the case.
The fire ripped through the Kensington Manor apartments on Mountain Drive Tuesday. Residents went door-to-door, waking up sleeping neighbors and getting them to safety, when the two-alarm fire broke out before 1 a.m.
Miton Bailey lost all of his material possessions in the fire.
"Five years ago when I moved in there, I had a radio and a blanket. I slept on the floor, started accumulating stuff like that, people helping me you know, so I'll just start all over again," said Bailey.
According to Channel 2 Action News, residents told authorities that the Molotov cocktail was thrown into an apartment after a fight broke out between two women.
DeKalb firefighters say the building's flat roof and lack of firewalls made it tougher to contain the blaze which them about 20 minutes to get under control.
The fire destroyed or damaged 16 apartments. The Red Cross is helping the families. No one was hurt.
