DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —
A water main break interrupted a busy DeKalb County road for hours Sunday night.
Channel 2 has followed repairs of the break near Panthersville and River roads since 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Overnight, workers made from DeKalb’s Watershed Management completed repairs, but residents said this is not the first time they’ve had trouble.
Homeowner Henry Turner said this is the second time in less than a week that crews had to repair the same pipe, which nearly flooded his home.
Turner said the water flowed for nearly an hour while he stood guard trying to keep his garage and house dry.
“I’m upset, but there ain’t nothing I can do about it right now. I just want to see who is going to take responsibility for it,” Turner said.
County spokesman Burke Brennan said the same pipe broke in another spot four days ago.
“It’s an old concrete pipe. We don’t even use concrete pipes anymore. They take a little longer to replace. We think it’s about 50 years old,” Brennan said.
Water was shut off to about 250 homes in the area while necessary repairs were made.
