The GBI has been called in to investigate after a man is shot by police in the parking lot of a shopping center in Forest Park.
Clayton County Police Lt. Chris Winley tells WSB they were called to El Dixie Plaza on Old Dixie Highway to a demented person with armed with a knife.
"Initially, we were told that he had the knife towards himself at which time he became agitated and came toward the citizen and the officers," said Winley.
Winley says they tried repeatedly to calm the man down, but when he became more agitated and came toward the officers and citizen, he was shot by police.
He was taken to a hospital. His condition is not known.
