McDonough, GA —

The man who robbed the Aldi at 450 Jonesboro Road, in McDonough, was waiting for the store to close.

"He was hiding in one of the refrigeration areas, or the dairy areas, in the back," says Henry County Police Sergeant Joey Smith, "and, after closing, he confronted the three employees who were left inside the business."

The hold up was at 8:45 Thursday night.

The robber pulled out a silver handgun and herded the employees into the store's office.  Then he demanded they open the safe.

"Evidently they weren't moving fast enough," Smith tells WSB, "so he shot one of the male employees in the foot."

The other two workers then complied with the robber's demands, opened the safe and the gunman took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Smith says he fled the store on foot, but it is not known if he had a car waiting.

The employee who was shot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As for the suspect, police are looking for a black man, between 40 and 50 years old, 5'8 and about 150 pounds.

Smith says he was wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt with "AND!" printed on the front.  He was also wearing grey sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Henry County police.
