Andrea Sneiderman's in-laws, Don and Marilyn Sneiderman, have filed papers in the Fulton County Court seeking visitation with their grandchildren, and asking for custody, if needed.
The petition, which comes less than a week after Hemy Neuman was convicted in the murder of Rusty Sneiderman, says the two children, Sophia and Ian, would suffer harm if their relationship with their grandparents was not preserved.
The petition, which was filed Wednesday, states that prior to Rusty's death, the Sneidermans had a loving and consistent relationship with the children.
However, "subsequent to the father's death, the mother has unilaterally limited and most recently eliminated contact between the grandparents and the minor children."
The relationship between Andrea and her in-laws has been strained since Rusty's murder on November 18, 2010.
It grew even more contentious during the Neuman trial. Steven Sneiderman, Rusty's brother, said last week that his family had suspected Andrea's involvement in Rusty's death early on and, after listening to 75 witnesses and hours of testimony, "we'd heard nothing that does anything but confirm our suspicions"
Sneiderman also said that "it's clear to me that Andrea is covered in Rusty's blood and there are not enough Rabbis in the world to wash away those stains."
