Clayton County, GA —
A man accused of stealing credit cards from cars he broke into near local fitness centers appeared in court on Thursday.
Clayton County Magistrate Court Judge Allison Pitts read off the charges against 45-year-old Rene Figuerado, "entering automobiles and financial transaction car theft."
Figuerado is accused of stealing women's credit cards from their automobiles.
Clayton County Police say there's surveillance video showing him using the stolen credit cards at a Publix Store and a Red Lobster Restaurant.
But, Figuerado's girlfriend, Michelle Blystone tells Channel 2 Action News, "It's got to be someone else because you can't be in two places at one time."
Blystone says the charges are bogus because Figuerado, who is accused of buying dinner for an unidentified woman with one of the stolen credit cards, was at home with her when some of the crimes took place.
Figuerado was arrested in Henry County and then in Clayton County.
He also is facing similar charges in East Point.
Police in several jurisdictions continue to investigate.
