Like Tamu Douglas a lot of Democrats at Varner’s Tavern in Smyrna think President Obama carried the foreign policy debate.

“The president finished this evening very presidential,” said Tamu Douglas, a Democrat attending a debate watch party at Varner’s Tavern in Smyrna.

Some Republicans like Tim Boyle, watching in Acworth, would have been happier had the debate never happened at all.

“I don’t care for either candidate in this particular debate,” he said.

But other Republicans believe Governor Romney simply lacked the insider knowledge of foreign policy afforded incumbents like President Obama.

“I think he’s knowledgeable,” she said, speaking of Gov. Romney. “He’s just got to be given a chance.”
