3-foot alligator spotted in Gwinnett neighborhood lake

So how would you feel if you had a 3-foot alligator living in a pond near your home and you were told it won’t hurt anybody?

That is the issue for those that live near Dunlin Lake in Lawrenceville.

Authorities think the gator used to be someone’s pet until it was let go into the lake.

"It grew a little bit, it's still small, it's very cute too," Muhammed Kabir told Channel 2 Action News. "I've been seeing it for two years."

The Department of Natural Resources couldn’t say if they have visited the neighborhood. But they’ve told residents, based on the description, that the gator currently poses no danger to children or pets.

"Well, baby alligators become big alligators, so I would definitely would want some action to be taken," said Pearlie Bashir, who just moved into the neighborhood. “

"He's going to grow up and eventually can cause trouble," Kabir said.

DNR says the homeowner's association would determine how they want to resolve the situation and call in a trapper on their own.
