Georgians with weapons carry permits would be allowed to take their guns into more places under a bill introduced in the state House.
The measure would allow guns into bars, churches, schools, college campuses, and state and local government buildings. They would have to be concealed, however, in those public areas.
“It protects personal property rights and balances the Second Amendment rights of all Georgians,” says co-sponsor Rep. Sean Jerguson (R-Woodstock).
Guns would still be prohibited in the federally restricted areas such as Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, as well as in courthouses and prisons.
In addition, the bill would also prevent police or the National Guard from disarming gun owners during states of emergency.
