Georgia has its own version of Florida's "Stand Your Ground Law."  The "No Duty to Retreat" measure passed the legislature in 2006.

The law states, "a person who is attacked has not duty to retreat and has a right to meet force with force - including deadly force."

State Senator Greg Goggans sponsored the legislation and is standing by it.

"This has nothing to do with allowing someone that wants to be a vigilante or whatever," he said.  "This is for law abiding citizens.  I think our bill serves a great purpose."

His colleague, State Senator Vincent Fort strongly disagrees with Goggans' argument.

"I voted against it at the time.  I thought it would be the source of bad things, and I think I'd like to repeal it," Fort said.
