FEMA center in Atlanta sending supplies to northeast

By Chris Chandler

Atlanta is one of the major FEMA distribution centers sending relief supplies to the northeast.

The supplies include water, pre-packaged meals, blankets, cots, and portable toilets.  They're all headed to New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Workers have been in high gear since last Thursday night, when they got word to await Sandy's landfall.

"It's long, it's tough, but we don't mind," FEMA worker Mitchell Richardson tells Channel 2 Action News.

While it may seem far away, Atlanta's center is actually second-closest to the disaster zone.

The facility in southeast Atlanta is running on a 24-hour schedule.
