Josh Miller and his girlfriend, Cara Epstein's, dream of getting married hit a snag earlier this week when he discovered her engagement ring was missing.

A good deed has cost a young Buckhead couple thousands of dollars. The couple's engagement ring was inside a coat they donated to Goodwill.

"We just finally ... found the perfect, perfect engagement ring," Josh Miller tells Channel 2 Action News. He says his girlfriend had "talked about the exact ring she wanted for a long time."

That ring was hidden in the coat pocket of a ski jacket he donated at the Goodwill center on Roswell Road last Monday. Josh says he didn't realize his mistake until days later. By then the center didn't have the coat anymore.

"She's a school teacher and I'm a landscaper," says Miller. "We obviously don't make a ton of money to be able to afford something like that on a regular basis."

Miller hasn't officially asked his girlfriend Cara Epstein to marry him yet. He was waiting to ask permission from her father, who lives in Ohio. He still plans to do so without the ring.

The coat is a black ski jacket with grey stripes. Miller and Epstein hope someone will find and return the ring, which they say was not insured.
