Doctors warn of ‘Holiday Heart Syndrome’

This holiday season can land you in the emergency room if you are not careful. Doctors have a warning about what they call Holiday Heart Syndrome, which can hit those who are otherwise healthy this time of year.

“It’s the result of stress, lack of sleep, excessive alcohol, caffeine ingestion, dehydration,” ER doctor Howard Mell told News/Talk WSB. “All of the things that seem to accompany us around the holidays.”

Dr. Mell says all of that can lead to a heart attack if you’re not careful.

He suggests get plenty of sleep, try to eat healthy and avoid stress as much as possible this time of year.
