The Georgia Department of Labor is coming to the aid of those who are out of work because of the tornado that hit Adairsville Wednesday.

The GDOL's Cartersville Center will establish and staff two temporary assistance centers where employment-related services will be provided to victims of the storm.

Labor Commissioner Mark Butler tells WSB after such a devastating event, the first concern is for the family.

"After that, especially individuals whose businesses were hit, their next thought is "where's my next paycheck going to come from?' Some businesses were damaged so bad that they can't open the next day which we had that case in several businesses in that area," said Butler.

Butler says in most cases, they qualify for unemployment insurance benefits to help them make ends meet.  Some of these businesses will take at a minimal six months to rebuild and to repair.

"What we want to do is make sure that we're there for them to help them through this time and to get them financially back on their feet as quickly as possible," said Butler.

Victims of the storm will not only be able to file claims for unemployment benefits, they can also get assistance in searching for a new job.

Employees of the Daiki Corporation, which was heavily damaged, will be served at a temporary center in the North Pointe Church on Orchard Road.  The center will be open Wednesday, February 6th, from 9am-noon and 1-3.  Company officials say about 80 employees will be out of work while the plant is rebuilt, which could take up to six months.

A second temporary assistance will be set up to assist all others and will be located at the United Community Bank at 7400 Highway.  It will be open on Tuesday and Thursday, February 5th and 7th, and on Tuesday and Thursday, February 12th and 14th.  Hours of operation will be 9am to noon and 1-4pm.
