Text threat interrupts school

By Jennifer Griffies

A 16-year-old has been arrested after he threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend, her current boyfriend, and then himself Wednesday afternoon.

Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman tells WSB the girl got the text while at Osborne High School and immediately called 911.

"Precinct 3 officers got the information, got the dispatch, were jammed up in identifying the suspect and location, and immediately went into action and took him into custody as he was actually leaving his residence," said Bowman.

The teen has been charged with two counts of making terroristic threats and one count of disrupting a public school while in session.

"The problem is that people aren't thinking.  You know social media, once it gets out there, it's out there.  And in light of recent situations and circumstances, people are taking this stuff very serious.  And it's a very serious accusation and it's a serious offense," said Bowman.
