As his family watched, 25-year old Dekalb Police Officer Dorian Williams hung his head before Federal Magistrate Alan Baverman, waiving his rights to a preliminary hearing and hoping to be freed on bond.
Williams, a cop for almost five years, was not wearing his police uniform. Instead, he was wearing the orange scrubs of a jail inmate.
He is accused of protecting what he thought was a cocaine dealer, of offering to shoot to kill if the deals went bad. In reality, federal prosecutors say the dealer was a federal informant, the cocaine was fake and now, Williams is one of ten cops accused of taking bribes.
Like the other two men in court today, former Dekalb County Deputy Monyette McLaurin and a civilian named Gregory Lee Harvey, Williams will be released on $10,000 bond.
All 15 defendants in this case now face possible indictment by a federal grand jury.
