Cobb Police have broken up what they described as a dangerous burglary ring and in the process helped solve crimes in Clayton County as well.

One victim, Lynn Keenum said he almost killed a man last month when he and his wife were awakened by a burglar rummaging through their kitchen in the middle of the night.

“I have a pistol that I keep at my bedside. I racked a bullet in the chamber. The sound of that and me coming down the hall was enough to encourage him to leave,” Keenum said.

It was one of several home invasion burglaries in East Cobb that had neighbors on edge and detectives on the hunt for suspects since the first of the year. Now, four people have been arrested after an East Cobb vehicle stop early on February 4.

Arrested were as follows:

Jontavius Clark, 26, of Austell

Maloy Brooks, 48, of Atlanta

Jaquori Harris, 20, of College Park

The arrests led investigators to search an apartment in Atlanta where they also arrested Richard Burgess, 64.

Police said, with those arrests, a number of crimes are on the way to being solved, ranging from East Cobb to Roswell to Clayton County.

“In Cobb County, we have 15-17 (victims),” said Cobb Police Lt. Destiny Davidson. “But there are also multiple victims in other jurisdictions,” including Roswell and Clayton county.

Police in those jurisdictions were busy sorting through the recovered property, trying to locate the victims to which it belonged, she said.
