Johns Creek Police are looking for the person who took an elderly man's personal checks and spent more than $1,200 on trips to Wal-Mart, Kroger and Target stores.

Lt. Chris Byers tells WSB they believe someone who was caring for Bob Key Moghaddam, 89, may be responsible.

"We suspect that the checks were stolen from his house.  He had some different Medicaid contracting companies coming in and doing some medical work in his months over the couple of months preceding this," said Byers.

The victim realized something was wrong when he began getting checks back with his name forged on them showing purchases from stores all over metro Atlanta.

"We're seeking public's assistance in identifying a person of interest that we have video and some footage of cashing checks at some Wal-Marts in the metro Atlanta area," said Byers.

Moghaddam said there were approximately eight different staff members who came to his house during that time to assist him while he recovered from an illness.

"Our suspicion is that the people that came in from Medicare that were working in the home were the ones that stole it.  As for whether this guy obtained the checks from them, if he's actually one of the people in the home, we just don't know at this point," said Byers.

Anyone with information is asked to Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
