Cain's Ga. co-chairman: We are moving forward

By Jay Black

While many have speculated that Herman Cain’s Presidential campaign is nearing its final days, the man leading that campaign in Cain’s home state says everything is moving along like it is supposed to.

Republican state Senator Josh McKoon told Channel 2 Action News the campaign is still expected to open its brand new Georgia campaign office in DeKalb County Saturday morning.

“I’m excited about Saturday and opening the campaign headquarters,” McKoon, the campaign’s state co-chairman.. “I think we’re gonna see there’s still a lot of support for Herman Cain on Saturday.”

Cain told Fox News that will make decide Monday if there will still be a campaign after allegations of an affair surfaced this week. Cain says he will meet his wife face to face for the first time Friday.

“My understanding is that we are moving forward,” said McKoon.

Cain’s poll numbers and fundraising were already slipping before Ginger White, a business woman from Dunwoody, said the two had an affair for 13 years. Cain denies it.

“I absolutely believe him,” McKoon said. “I have no reason; over the eight year relationship I’ve had with Herman Cain, to believe he would be anything less than truthful, not just with me but with the American people.”

Cain will be in Rock Hill, South Carolina Friday for a town hall meeting before he comes back to Atlanta.

The new grand opening for the new state headquarters is Saturday at 11 a.m. at 3700 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30340.

WSB’s Neal Boortz is on the guest list along with State Sen. Josh McKoon, R-Columbus, and state Rep. Josh Clark, R-Buford; and Republican National Committee member Linda Herren.
