Sofia Vergara's video message to Aimee Copeland

By Chris Camp

New York, NY —

One of the stars of a hit comedy TV series is offering up words of encouragement and support for Aimee Copleland, who continues her battle to recover from a flesh-eating bacteria.

Sofia Vergara, one of the cast members of "Modern Family" on ABC, has posted a heartfelt video.

“We always have you in our minds and we also believe that you are such a strong person” Vergara, 39, said in the video message recorded in New York City. "We're so proud of what you've been doing and going through. And we hope the best - hopefully I can meet you soon and give you a hug and tell you how much we're so amazed about what you've been going through," Vergara said.

Copeland, who was upgraded from critical to serious condition at Doctors Hospital of Augusta last Tuesday, contracted the flesh-eating bacteria after falling from a homemade zipline over a west Georgia river. Her left leg, right foot and both her hands have been amputated.
